A huge thanks to our customers for helping Martin House Hospice

News / A huge thanks to our customers for helping Martin House Hospice.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers, and to let you know that although we thought about buying you all a great Christmas gift, we decided not to!

No, we have not turned into Mr Scrooge! We have in fact decided to support an amazing cause, Martin House Hospice.

Martin House is a hospice aimed at providing family-led care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. They spend more than £6.7 million each year (primarily from charitable donations) in an effort to improve the lives of children and young people with progressive and incurable conditions, such as duchenne muscular dystrophy and batten disease. Martin House also offers services to children and young people afflicted with life-threatening conditions and conditions where curative treatment is either impossible or has a limited chance of success.

Parents, siblings and other family members also need a great deal of support when their loved ones are suffering from these conditions, so Martin House also provides valuable services to the families affected. Family services include planned care, symptom control, nursing and practical care, end of life care and bereavement support. By providing this family-led support, Martin House helps these children, young adults and their families to minimise suffering and find the happiness they deserve.

So now that you know what Martin House does, we’re sure you’ll agree that they deserve our support!

Steve Janetta from Drumminskool’s came up with the great idea of a 24-hour “drummathon” to raise money for the hospice. Our MD Jonathan Hanson’s daughter Amy got involved and did her part to support Martin House, and you can see her in action here.

In addition to this great fundraising achievement, Stainless Band has donated £1000 on behalf of our customers for Christmas this year, because we know our customers would rather see this money go to this worthy cause than receive a gift themselves. Thanks to the additional 25% contributed by the Government-funded Gift Aid programme, Martin House will receive a total of £1250 in lieu of our customers’ Christmas gifts.

If you would like to add any further contributions to this cause, please visit Just Giving and give all you can – however small, it all helps.

The team at Stainless Band wish you all a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to working with you in the New Year!
